Movement is the basis of development
Children have a natural urge to play, romp around, and actively discover their world. This makes it all the more stressful when physical limitations inhibit this development.
At THZ Fugmann in Düsseldorf and Meerbusch, we support infants, toddlers, and children with individual training programs that strengthen motor skills and thus promote the greatest possible independence.
In which cases is physical therapy used for children?
Typical areas of application:
- Premature births and developmental delays: promoting motor milestones and movement transitions
- Muscle disorders and physical disabilities: support for mobility and quality of movement
- Asymmetries: e.g., preferred postures in infants, torticollis, or scoliosis
- Syndromic disorders: e.g., Down syndrome, spina bifida, cerebral palsy, or multiple disabilities
- Diseases and injuries of the musculoskeletal system: restoration of mobility after accidents or illnesses
- Disorders in the mouth and face area: e.g., muscular imbalances that affect swallowing or breathing
Children practice through play
We design therapy sessions to be playful and oriented towards everyday life. Each child is met at their current stage of development. Together with our physical therapists, children learn:
- Movement transitions such as sitting, crawling, or standing
- The development of an upright posture
- Improved movement quality and coordination
- The prevention of subsequent problems such as bone fractures or postural damage
Parents help out
This brings advantages for both sides:
- We show how exercises can be integrated into everyday life
- We advise on aids that promote posture and movement development
- We support families beyond the actual therapy with tips and contacts.
Our goal
Our goal is to restore children’s joy of movement and independence. Through early intervention, we strengthen physical and motor development and lay the foundation for a healthy future.
